This article describes how the KleverKey reader KK2150 can be connected to an external control unit or a door opener.
Introduction
The reader must be installed outside the door and connected to the mains. The reader has a potential-free relay output (REL) to which various electrical loads such as a motor, door opener or a digital input of a control unit can be connected.
Important:
- If the reader is installed to secure an external door, we strongly recommend the use of a security module to increase overall security. For more information, see Connecting a security module.
- The maximum achievable degree of protection IP54 depends on the sealing against the wall. Cable entries and fixing holes must be sealed with a sealant if necessary. Suitable sealants (e.g. silicone) must be selected according to the ambient conditions.
Control unit with input type (potential-free) closing contact
If the controller has a "normally open" type input or similar, the following wiring diagram could be considered. This input type is normally used for direct connection of a button or switch to manually close a door by pressing the button or switch.
Note: The reader's relay can switch max. 30VAC/DC, max. 1.5A
Control unit with input type "digital input" or electrical load (motor)
If the control unit has a "digital input" input type, the following wiring diagram could be considered. This input type is normally used to connect another electronic device to the control unit.
Important: Make sure that the voltage levels of the reader and the control unit match. The reader can be operated with 12-24VDC at typ. 1W (max. 5W).
