This article describes possible solutions if opening a KleverKey lock with the KleverKey App causes problems.
(1) The permission appears inactive in the keychain, although I am standing close to the lock. When pressing the authorization, the message "Lock not nearby" appears.
Possible cause: possibly the (Bluetooth) wireless connection to the lock cannot be established.
Possible solutions:
- Move closer to the lock
- Switch off Bluetooth on the smartphone and switch it on again after 5 sec (Link)
- Exit KleverKey app (swipe up) and restart again
- Check location sharing (active and allowed for KleverKey)
- Bluetooth Permission for KleverKey App not activated (only iPhone, see Settings->Apps->KleverKey)
- Permission "Find nerby devices" not activated for KleverKey (only Android, Link)
- Restart smartphone
- Contact KleverKey support: Submit request
(2) The error message appears that the lock could not be opened after pressing the authorization.
Possible cause: The authorization is not (any longer) valid at the current time.
Possible solutions:
- Try again
- Contact the administrator of the system
- Contact KleverKey support: Submit request
(3) Apple/Google Wallet pops up when opening the locks
Cause: The smartphone is held directly to the lock and the smartphone operating system activates the default application for NFC, which is usually the wallet (“credit card”).
Solution: Since KleverKey uses Bluetooth Low Energy, the KleverKey app can be opened on the smartphone at a distance of 0.2-2.0m and the corresponding authorization selected. The smartphone must not be held directly to the lock.
(4) A red symbol (with a white cross) appears after pressing the authorization button
Cause: When changing the smartphone and loading the KleverKey app from an iCloud backup, not all sensitive data is loaded from the iCloud. It is then sometimes not possible to open the locks.
Solution:
Logging out and logging back in refreshes the data on the smartphone and fixes the problem.
