The aim of this article is to show how you can add a smartcard ISO14443A (e.g. credit card) or a Swisspass as a keycard for your lock.
Add smartcard ISO14443A
Important: Not all ISO14443A smartcards work with KleverKey locks. Please contact us (support@kleverkey.com) to verify that your card meets the requirements for use with our products.
This function works only if you select "UID authentication".
(Hardware ->Locks, select lock and press "Customize settings").
Important: Switching to “UID authentication” disables secure communication between the lock and the card and authentication is only carried out via the reading of the UID. This ID can be emulated with suitable tools and is not secure. Depending on the application, the “Secure communication” setting should therefore always be selected.
- Log in to the KleverKey Portal
- Select your user in the upper right corner and click on "Phones & Cards".
- Click on the plus icon in the lower right corner and select "Add Smartcard".
- Select the type "ISO14443A Smartcard".
- Scan your card with an NFC scanner (e.g. NFC Tools) (How?) or with a card-reader, see KleverKey Shop
- Enter the serial number in the "UID" field. Fill the unneeded digits at the end with 0!
- Select a name for your card and click "Add".
Add Swisspass
- Log in to the KleverKey Portal
- Select your user in the upper right corner and click on "Phones & Cards".
- Click on the plus icon in the lower right corner and select "Add Smartcard".
- Select the type "Swisspass".
- Enter your Swisspass ID and postal code
- Once you press "Add" it will sync with all the locks you have authorization for.
Instructions: Reading the UID of a smart card
- Download the NFC Tools app from the App Store.
- Open the app and select the "Read" function.
- Hold the smartcard up to your phone. (Depending on the model, the smartcard may need to be held to the phone at a different point. If scanning doesn't work, try different positions on front and back).
- Copy the serial number, which is displayed in the app after reading.
