The aim of this article is to show you how you can start with KleverKey and setup your Plug & Play Access Control system.
The setup is done in three steps:
- Mounting of Hardware (Locks & Gateways)
- Connect Locks and Gateway with Account
- Login to Portal and verify setup
To setup your KleverKey Access Control System, you'll need the KleverKey app and register.
Note: If you ordered the KleverKey system with onboarding service, please send us your username (e-mail) with a reference to your project to firstname.lastname@example.org.
(1A) Mounting KleverKey Lock on Door
The KleverKey smart locks can be installed with ease - either by you or someone who does that for you.
(1B) Mounting Gateway
A gateway connects 1 or 2 locks with the KleverKey cloud. Please make sure that the gateway is placed in a secure environment but as close as possible next to the lock(s).
The gateway must be connected to power with the included power supply. With the optional wall mount kit, the gateway can easily be mounted on a wall.
Power the gateway and ensure the led (bottom side) is blinking BLUE (Gateway Status LED).
Note: If you ordered the KleverKey system with onboarding service, the gateway could already be connected to your WiFi and blinks GREEN.
(2) Connect Gateway and Lock(s) with Account
Note: If you ordered the KleverKey system with onboarding service, you can go to step 3.
Next step is to connect the locks and gateways with your account. The easiest way to perform this step is always for a lock/gateway pair (1-2 locks and the gateway which is mounted in proximity to the lock(s)).
Use the KleverKey App to configure the gateway and locks. If you don't have the KleverKey app and/or a KleverKey account, follow these steps: Download App and Register.
Please repeat this step until all gateways and locks are connected with your account. After this step, the LED of all gateways will blink GREEN.
If you have problems during this step, you might find answers here:
(3) Login to Portal to verify Setup
Login to portal with your account and check if all locks and gateways are shown in the portal and connected.
- Open https://portal.kleverkey.com with your browser
- Login with your e-mail and password (which you defined during registration)
- Open Hardware -> Gateway and make sure all gateways are online
- Open Hardware -> Locks and make sure all locks are online and connected to the correct gateway
- Grant a Permission to yourself to test locks
Buy a Subscription
If you grant permissions to other users, you'll have to buy a subscription and choose the number of users. A user can have more than one device (e.g. App, smartcards) and is identified by it's E-Mail address.
You can open your locks by using the KleverKey App, smartcards or the portal. To test opening the locks with a smartcard, you must add a KleverKey smartcard, a generic smartcard (maybe you already have them) or a SwissPass (only in Switzerland) to your account.
Open Locks with Browser
To open the locks with your browser from anywhere, you must grant yourself a permission (make sure that you check the checkbox "Remote Activation"). Go to My Permissions and open the lock from there.
